Step 4 – June 2007
“Position Statements” developed
Having agreed that the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) would be reviewed and updated alongside the Local Area Agreement (LAA) (see Step 3) work could begin on analysing the data and up dating the existing strategy.
The Government grouped the priorities set out in the Local Area Agreement (LAA) under six common themes:
In Somerset, a Theme Lead Officer was identified for individual themes except for Economy and Environment which were split with a lead for each.
The Theme Leads were tasked with reviewing key facts and figures and performance results, carrying out consultations with partner organisations and other relevant parties and linking all of this information into the strategic priorities and outcomes of the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS). All the data was gathered together to produce the first draft of the “position statements” – these are statements detailing the current situation on all aspects to be covered in the LAA and the SCS.
A flow chart was produced to show how the position statements and LAA themes aligned with the Economic, Environmental and Social agendas for the county.
At the SSP Forum meeting, the SSP Sub Groups and Local Strategic Partnerships within each of the districts of Somerset were asked to review the draft position statements in line with their own district community strategies and other plans.
