Sustainable Community Strategy - How we got there

Step 6 – February 2008

Aims discussed and agreed.

The first draft of the aims and priorities for the revised Sustainable Community Strategy was written and presented to the SSP Forum on 1st February 2008.  The SSP Forum affirmed the aims and discussed emerging issues.

The discussions surrounding 'The Story of Somerset' had clarified future issues for the county.  The SSP Forum considered these and the aims that had been used to structure the consultations.  Members agreed to use these in the revised Sustainable Community Strategy.

The aims :

  • Making a positive contibution

  • Living sustainably

  • Ensuring economic wellbeing

  • Enjoying and achieving

  • Staying safe

  • Being healthy

These aims are based on those selected at a national level in "Every Child Matters".  The SSP Forum agreed them because they are relevant for every individual and community.
